Japan Airlines and Vietjet to commence codeshare flights

Tokyo, October 19, 2018 – New-age carrier Vietjet and Japan Airlines (JAL) today announced that the two airlines will begin their codeshare flights starting October 23. Vietjet and JAL signed a Memorandum of Understanding for commercial cooperation in 2017 and will now offer codeshare flights on domestic destinations in Vietnam and on international flights between Vietnam and Japan operated by Vietjet.

   Hanoi-Osaka (Kansai)

Codeshare flights are available for travel from October 28, 2018. The Hanoi-Osaka route specifically inaugurates operation on November 8, 2018.

Based on the agreement, the two airlines will also aim to expand their codeshare routes in the near future, including other flight services between Japan and Vietnam as well as JAL’s domestic flights, and Vietjet’s domestic flights.

Currently, Vietjet operates 60 A320, A321 aircraft with more than 385 flights daily, carrying more than 65 million passengers to date, with 101 routes covering destinations across Vietnam and international destinations such as Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, mainland China, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia and Cambodia.


The airline has plans to expand its flight network across the Asia-Pacific region and has signed contracts to buy new-generation aircraft from prestigious global plane manufacturers.
